Our Body is a precious gift from nature and when we take care & nurture it, it shows...
We look good, feel happy, our mind & emotions feel sorted, there is enthusiasm & joy to name a few.
and eating is one of the most basic, important function to nourish our body.
We have extensive research that now clearly points out that good health is maintained to a great deal by what you eat, 70% depends on your diet and only 30% on exercise.
Many times with the best of our intentions, exercise, supplements we don't feel our digestion is good enough, since we are not just what we eat but what we absorb. This is no rocket science but it needs attention, so sharing a few basic tips that you can start adapting to improve digestion and absorption :
- Keep your morning diet as alkaline as possible :
- STEP 1: Take a Litre of Water+ 2 slices cucumber + 1/4 piece fresh lime, leave it overnight & consume a glass full 1st thing in the morning. You will feel so light & good.
- Follow up with FRESH Coconut water if possible.
- or a bowl of seasonal fruit.
FRUIT
- ensure the fruit is local or grown in close geographical location from where you live
- ensure its fresh/ avoid buying cheap pesticide sprayed fruits, at throw away prices in large supermarkets, your throwing away your guts health too by consuming such fruit.
- If you like mixing fruit in your fruit bowl, then ensure they are from the same climate. eg, you can mix : banana+ papaya+ chikoo .
- You can club up all types of berries together for a fruit bowl.
- You can club up melons together for a fruit bowl.
- if you want to make a shake replacing milk with yogurt or coconut water or avocado is a good idea.
- After the fruit consumption you can comfortably eat a carb of your choice after an hour.
MEALS
- In your meal :Eating a bowl full of food is roughly equivalent to the quantity your tummy can happily digest. In Ayurveda its called an ANJALI - the quantity.
- Spacing your meal times to 3hours is a safe way to go ahead.
- Having your last meal- dinner 3 hours before your sleep time will ensure that you do not accumulate those toxins in your gut, that are responsible for indigestion, diseases & bad quality of sleep.
WATER & LIQUIDS
- Avoiding to mix tea/ coffee or carbonated drinks with your meal is a good idea too.
- Last but not the least stay hydrated with at least 4Litres of water per day, reducing the quantity & frequency towards dinner and after. *Will benefit immensely to consume water/ juices/ liquids an hour prior to your meal or an hour after.
These are absolute basics which most of us can follow but if we have specific medical conditions where we are required to follow doctors advice please do so.
Happy eating, digesting & absorbing good stuff.π
